The novel coronavirus outbreak is evolving on a daily basis. Family and MWR is working with USAG Fort Meade leadership to determine how the latest information affects Family and MWR facilities and events.

Prevention: Avoid being exposed; practice appropriate hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, if unavailable use an alcohol-based (at least 60%) hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; avoid close contact with those who are sick; clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces (work and home).

Updated Mask Guidance for all DoD Installations and Other Facilities

  • Based on current conditions, Fort George G. Meade is rated as SUBSTANTIAL for COVID-19 transmission.
  • Masks are required for all personnel and visitors inside DFMWR facilities regardless of vaccination status.
  • Service members, Federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors regardless of vaccination status will continue to physically distance consistent with applicable CDC and DoD Force Health Protection guidance.

Army Community Service (ACS)

Gaffney Fitness Center


Effective Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, face coverings are required 100% while in Gaffney Fitness Center at all times. This includes while on cardio machines.

This policy applies to everyone regardless of current vaccination status. Please continue to socially distance and wipe down machines before and after use.

9-11 a.m.  Facility is closed for cleaning.

Gaffney Fitness Center is currently operating with a max capacity of 120 customers at any given time. Patrons are allotted a one hour workout. Staff will issue a colored bracelet to track the 1 hour timeframe.

* The indoor pool is closed except for military training by reservation only.
