Fort Meade MWR - Sports, Fitness, and Aquatics will host many fitness events during the month of May in conjunction with the Army's STRONG B.A.N.D.S. program.  The events are as follows:

  •  STRONG B.A.N.D.S. Fitness Challenge

May -  during Aerobics class hours at Gaffney Fitness Center, enter a drawing to win a 2019 Strong Bands T-shirt! Take any three group fitness classes of your choosing in one week.   • Spring Into Fitness Aerobathon - May 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  - Murphy Field House

    Three hour Fitness Fest; an opportunity to exercise your way to a healthier you. Gaffney fitness instructor classes will be featured in twenty to thirty minute increments. All levels are welcome.   • Water Aerobics Classes - May 10, Free - Gaffney Fitness Center

    Participants do not need to know how to swim to participate. Try out the following water aerobics classes:

    • PUNCH + SPLASH  /  11 to 11:30 a.m.

      High-energy, total body HIIT workout pairing cardio bursts with boxing exercises. All Levels / Deep Depth

    • HUSTLE & FLOW / 11:35 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.

      Hustle: High-energy, total-body workout

      Flow: Low/no impact stretch sequence

      All levels / Deep Depth; flotation belts provided

    • FLOAT + SCULPT / 2:30 to 3 p.m.

      Muscle sculpting, core-firming, low/no impact moves. All levels / Deep Depth Only - flotation belts provided.

    • SHOCK WAVE  / 3:05 to 3:35 p.m.

      Extreme, high intensity, calorie-torching / Advanced / Dual Depth

  • Run to Honor 5K* and One Mile Walk, May 18, 8 a.m. - Murphy Field House

    Run starts at 0800, pre-register by 7 May. On-site registration on May 18 is from 7- 7:30 a.m. Family fun event featuring a 5k run and one mile walk route. 2019 Run Series information and pricing available on the Run Series page.

  • Kick Ball Tournament, May 24, 10 a.m.  -  Donahue Field and Rosie’s Field

    Come and enjoy a one-pitch, single elimination kickball tournament in support of Strong B.A.N.D.S! This tournament will be held for recreational competition and fun to help spread the Strong B.A.N.D.S message of fitness and wellness.

    Open to all Active Duty Military Service Members and their family members, DoD Civilians, and Retirees. All participants must be eighteen years of age or older. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on May 1 at Gaffney Fitness Center. The first twelve teams to register will be able to participate in this event.
