Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Please join us and participate in these free events and programs held throughout the month to raise awareness. Join the effort to end domestic violence! United, we can end it!

Calendar of Events: 

  • Oct. 6, 13, 20, & 27 - Wear Purple on Fridays
    • All day, post wide. Show your support! Wear purple every Friday in the month of October.
  • Oct. 4, 11, 18, & 25 - Victim Advocacy Outreach Table
    • AAFES PX Food Court 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Oct. 7, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. - Java & Journaling
    • Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Center, Building #2462
    • To raise awareness of the impacts of domestic violence and to promote an opportunity for collaboration and healing by expressing emotions
      through journaling.
  • Oct. 12, 6-8 p.m. - Painting for Prevention
    • Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Center, Building #2462
    • An evening for the community to come together and paint while promoting advocacy and awareness about domestic violence.
  • Oct. 19, 1-3 p.m. - “5 Love Languages”
    • Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Center, Building #2462
    • Family Advocacy Program staff will provide its participants (couples and individuals) with information and tips on recognizing their individual love languages and that of their partner's. The goal is to help others tap into their love language and enhance relationship and communication skills. 

  • Oct. 20, 1-4 p.m. - Married to the Military - Now What? Military Culture 101 Workshop
    • Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Center, Building #2462
    • A workshop about what to expect as a new military spouse and an overview of
      resources from the Family Advocacy Program (FAP)
  • Oct. 26, 6-8 p.m. - A Poetry Slam
    • Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Center, Building #2462
    • To raise awareness of the impacts of domestic violence. Poetry provides an outlet for those impacted to express their emotions as an outlet to promote healing.
